Bug fixes and coding refinements

  • Moving the gamepad left control stick on menus no longer rapidly jumps between options.
  • When using the gamepad, toggling one option in Options no longer toggles every option. 
  • During boss appearance, Bottom Feeder no longer shrinks while the game is paused.
  • The second boss will now move and defend itself as normal when you fight them a second time in a gameplay session.
  • You can no longer click the Continue (to next level) button while the game is paused on the data results screen, which caused the game to get stuck.

Design changes

  • Added third level titled "Hidden Goals".
    • Level includes new H-Ship enemy that turns your blocks (mostly) invisible. 
    • Also includes new Sun Boss.
  • Shortened D-Ship flashing before explosion to adjust difficulty. Previous flashing took too long.
  • Major change to gameplay UI:
    • Replaced large firing cooldown meter with progress meter to the boss fight. This will hopefully alleviate some misconceptions that the boss arrives when the Bottom Feeder grows by a certain amount. 
    • Moved gameplay UI to the top of the screen. This will hopefully make it more noticeable since players' eyes are more drawn to the top than the bottom of the screen because of enemies.
  • Adjusted text a little on the data results screen to hopefully clarify the data is calculated before the boss fight.
  • Names entered on the High Scores screen only display the first 10 characters entered.

Known bugs and areas of improvement

  • When editing controls, you can set the same key for multiple controls.
  • Text for the gamepad controls doesn't display coherently.
  • Need ability to separately control music and sound effects  (design and accessibility-related).
  • Allow particle effects to be reduced (accessibility-related).
  • Save custom game controls.
  • Game speed UI is a slider, but you can't drag and slide it; the UI could be changed.
